Ok so i have just created a website (buttonsbrand.webs.com) basically its a site to talk to friends at the moment and to sell friendship bracelets which im not that crazy to sell lol just there for anyone whos interested nd if not thats ok too…lol but how can i get more traffic?
There are several routes you could take to get more traffic to your site, although some tend to be more successful than others. Also, whilst some avenues are free, others will cost you money so you need to decide which you feel is most appropriate for what you are aiming to achieve.
1. You can set up some Google Adwords, Adsense, or pay-per-click campaigns and then pick relevant sites with Google ads to list them on. You will have running costs with these though which can get expensive pretty quickly.
2. You can set up blogs (blogger, squidoo, etc.) relating to your website. Use fresh content so as to not repeat too much of your main website, and make sure you include a link to your site on the page. You should include keywords in the text which directly relate to what your website is about. The more specific you can make it, the more targeted your traffic will be.
3. In the same way as the blogs, you can write articles relating to the content of your site and then include your website link in the resource box, and submit them on article sites like ezine, articlesbase, eHow, etc. Make sure you allow your articles to be republished on other sites as these will then link back to your website as well.
4. You could also create a short video advertising your website and put it on YouTube. Make sure you include your link in the little info box and also make sure that the title you give your video uses the same keywords as you’ve used in the articles and blogs.
The most important factor in driving traffic to your website is having a lot of backlinks on sites with related content. These backlinks help your site to get a high ranking in the major search engines, meaning your site will have more chance of getting found when people search for your particular keywords.
In my opinion, I would leave the Google ad campaigns for the time being and try the other options as they are all free, and will help to create you a large number of backlinks. Once you are getting a larger stream of visitors to your site you could then use these campaigns to try and drive even more traffic to your site if you want, but you may decide its not necessary.
Building backlinks does take up quite a lot of time, especially considering how many sites there are that you can submit content to, in one way or another. Because of this, many people buy software which will submit your articles and videos across a vast number of sites virtually automatically, saving you a lot of time, whilst getting you more backlinks than you would likely get yourself. Some of this software is pretty inexpensive and can be used for as many sites as you wish. If going down this route though, just be sure to check that the software only uses ‘white hat’ techniques to get backlinks.
